Eric Smoot, founder and co-owner of Redefined Fitness, is committed to helping his clients achieve their optimal fitness potential. A certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), Eric is also trained in the methodology of Steve Percy, a national training expert who was the first to integrate personal training with physical therapy and sports medicine techniques. Eric specializes in one-on-one and group training, rehabilitation techniques, and the training of track and field athletes.
Eric has had an interest in fitness and athletics for many years. A three time state high school champion in the mile run, Eric was inducted into the State of Indiana 2000 High School Track and Field Hall of Fame. While attending Purdue University, Eric ran track and cross country as a scholarship athlete and was named a collegiate All American in track and field. After graduating in 1996 with a double major in exercise and fitness, Eric joined Body Management Center in Northfield as a personal trainer/exercise specialist. Two years later, Eric and business partner Silviu Gansca opened their own personal training studio which grew into Redefined Fitness in 2002.
A firm believer in giving back to the community, Eric serves as a motivational speaker at local high schools. He has also instituted a holiday giving program at Redefined Fitness where the clients and staff help to support the Ark Shelter for homeless and battered women in Gary, Indiana.
